Sunday, 29 July 20120 comments

Lack of job opportunities or lack of jobs has been on the lips of every desperate job seeker. Though in developing countries, there is an obvious remarkable level of unemployment rate. The rate of job creation is absolutely not favourable. There is increasing number of people who graduates from college into the job market on yearly basis. Despite these problems, there are still available job opportunities yet untapped. The problem that I realized is that job seekers do not really know where to find jobs, maybe because of lack of appropriate information and guidance. If you are a job seeker and are considering where to find your dream job, this article, being the first in the series “JOB SEARCH STRATEGIES” will be of immense help to you as it shall discuss in detail ways and where a job seeker will find his/her dream jobs. If you carefully read through this article, you will decide for yourself or make an informed decision on ways to find your dream job

The Hiding Places of Jobs

Now if there are no jobs as some people often believed, you may like to ask: where are the Hiding Places of Jobs?  This article seeks to give you are clear answer to this question. According to my experience in job search, I have realized that there are two (2) basic broad arenas that you can consider when you are searching for jobs in the job market. These are:

(1)   The Public Job Market

(2)   The Hidden Job Market

These are the basic areas where to find jobs. The public job market consists of all the jobs that are openly proclaimed and advertised. In this category, the jobs are advertised in the media being the newspaper, magazine, radio, posters or from the employment agencies. You can also find these jobs from the executive search firms. The second is the hidden job market; this job market represents all the jobs that are not publicly announced. Sometimes, these jobs haven’t even been identified yet by the prospective employers. More than half of the jobs in the job market are available in this particular job market arena. So you need to do your thorough job research carefully. Some of the available job positions in this category are filled by company’s own employees, some by the employer’s network, but many are filled by YOU who appear at “the right place at the right time”.

Ask and Answer Some Salient Questions

Another important point to note if you are considering where to find jobs is that you should ask yourself some important questions regarding your job search and the employment you are seeking. I guess you might have asked “where can I find my dream job?” Ask yourself another clear question, what is my dream job? What type of job am I seeking? Is it a white collar job or a green collar job? These questions will give you a directions and pattern of your job search. What is the category of the jobs you are seeking? Is it public or government work? It is private job? Some graduate make a serious mistake putting themselves in a condition of lack of choice. Note that “any job in no job”. Since there are so many agencies that may seek to employ any job seeker, the numbers should not confuse you at all. Categorize yourself. Which is your profession? Where can you function most? What are your potentials? If you cannot put yourself in a category, even if you enter the largest job-sites online, you will not be able to find any job that suits you. What is your time schedule? Are you looking for a full time job or a part time job? Considering where to fine job is the first step of getting it because if you are properly guided on the principles explained in this article, you will be able to recognize any opportunity of your dream. This principle applies to every other aspect of life. Reconfigure your mindset and put your self is a particular category.
