Erasmus Mundus Scholarships in funded by the European Union and offers fully-funded scholarships for Masters (MS) programmes and Doctorates (PhD) programmes to students coming from developing countries
Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility programme in the field of higher education that aims to enhance the quality of European higher education and to promote dialogue and understanding between people and cultures through cooperation with Third-Countries. In addition, it contributes to the development of human resources and the international cooperation capacity of Higher education institutions in Third Countries by increasing mobility between the European Union and these countries.

Host institutions for Erasmus Mundus Scholarships are Universities/Institutions in Europe that participate under approved Erasmus Mundus Action Joint Programmes.
Value/Inclusion of the award:
According to 2009-2013 Action Plan, about 5,300 Masters (Ms) students and 440 doctoral students from developing countries will be awarded with the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship. The Erasmus Mundus Scholarships Programme covers full-time scholarship and/or fellowships that covers the living cost, travelling cost, tuition fees and insurance cost to all the awardees. Scholarship amount varies according to programme/level of studies/research/teaching and spans from 3 month to 3 years according to programme pursued.
Target Groups:
Erasmus Mundus Scholarships in meant for students developing/emerging countries who do not come from the 27 member state of the EU and who are not resident nor have carried out the major activities, i.e, studies, training, work, for more than one calendar year (12 Months) over the last five years in one of this EU countries.
Eligibility:
Eligibility/Selection criteria for the Erasmus Mundus Scholarships are determined by the Consortium offering the Masters/Doctoral Scholarships.

Applicant for the Erasmus Mundus Scholarships should study the programme guidelines of this award. The Programme Guidelines provides all the necessary information on the application conditions and criteria corresponding to each of the 3 Programme Actions. Regular Calls for Proposals are published to specify the activities, the application criteria and the budgetary allocations relevant to the call concerned.
